About Us

As a designated WHO Collaborating Centre, WHOCC, School of Nursing, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University is proud to support WHO in the implementation of the Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) Guidelines through education, research, and community empowerment.

Our Mission

To equip healthcare professionals and community workers with standardized competencies to implement WHO's ICOPE framework, enabling early identification of declining abilities in older persons and fostering person-centered care pathways.

ICOPE Training Programme

Our comprehensive certification course prepares you to become a qualified ICOPE assessor through three integrated stages:

  • 1. Self-Paced Preparation

  • - Access ICOPE self-learning materials on the website

  • 2. Expert-Led Training

  • - Register for the Basic Assessment on this website

  • - Attend face-to-face workshops

  • - Conduct hands-on practice of ICOPE assessments

  • - Complete the ICOPE assessment examination

  • - Consult WHOCC for arrangements for higher-level training

  • 3. Community Assessment

  • - Conduct real-life ICOPE assessments for 10 older adults in your community (e.g., family members, neighbours, clients)

  • - Submit assessment data and personalized care plan via Qualtrics

Upon successful completion, you will receive: A WHOCC-recognized ICOPE Assessor Certificate and inclusion in our ICOPE assessor directory
